Update: Verbal altercation leads to shooting in Beverly Hills

An arrest warrant was granted today by the State Attorney’s Office for 62-year-old Michael Ball of Beverly Hills.

Ball has been arrested and charged with second-degree urder in connection to the shooting that occurred in Beverly Hills on March 25 in which Ball is said to have fatally shot a fellow resident of the neighborhood during a verbal altercation.

Ball remains in the Citrus County Detention Facility, with no bond.

Ocala man tracked with app captured by deputies after Homosassa burglary

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) on Friday arrested an Ocala man and charged him with the theft of a trailer that was loaded with two motorcycles and a generator taken from a home in Homosassa.

Arrested was Colby Manning, 35, who now faces two counts of grand theft for the thefts, the CCSO said. In addition he was charged with two counts possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia after deputies located approximately a gram of meth, a little over a gram of heroin, and a glass pipe on him.

Two years on, CCSO still looking for Carol McHugh

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for a county resident who went missing two years ago.

That resident is Carol McHugh, who vanished on June 8, 2017.

McHugh, a 72-year old mother and grandmother from Inverness, suffering from memory issues, completely disappeared without a trace in 2017 from her home while she was on a walk, and left without any food, water, or medications.

Body of missing Inglis man found in Withlacooche River

The body of an Inglis man reported missing earlier in the week was found floating on Saturday in the Withslacoochee River.

George Kiggans, 66, was reported missing on Wednesday, March 20, after he was last seen around 2 p.m. in the vicinity of his residence on West Foss Grove Path in Inglis.

“We utilized our resources as well as requested assistance from other organizations to assist in locating Mr. Kiggans,” said Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “This is not how we want any search to end, and we are truly sorry for the family’s loss.

Neighbor complaints lead to CCSO crackdown

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday served a search warrant on a Beverly Hills home following neighbor complaints of suspected drug activity going on at that home.

The result was the arrest of two people at that home, 55 South Lincoln Avenue in Beverly Hills 55 South Lincoln Avenue in Beverly Hills.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for 16-year-old Joanie Hailey Marie Sundquist.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for 16-year-old Joanie Hailey Marie Sundquist.

Joanie is 5’4” tall and 120 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. Joanie was last seen wearing a cream-colored shirt and jeans.
