Vols prep for Annual Kid’s Fishing Clinic

Volunteers met Wednesday morning at Fort Island Trail Park to assemble the 300 fishing rods needed for the Annual Kid’s Fishing Clinic scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23. Members from Citrus Fishing Club, Dixie Bay Boating and Fishing Club, and the Inglis/Yankeetown Lions Club were among those present. This is a FREE event from children ages 5 to 15. CF Early Childhood Conference set for March 30

OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2019) — The College of Central Florida will host the 31st Annual Early Childhood Conference in partnership with the Early Learning Coalition of Marion County Saturday, March 30, at its Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.

The conference will be held from 7:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center. Registration is $40 before Feb. 25, then $60 after.

FWC invites the public to attend draft black crappie management plan public meetings

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites the public to attend statewide public meetings to give input on the draft Black Crappie Management Plan.

This plan was constructed utilizing stakeholder input and will be used as a guide for black crappie management in Florida.

FWC staff will present the plan’s background and objectives and are seeking input from the public on these components. All meeting locations are accessible and each meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dates and locations are listed below.

Community leaders and Citrus County dignitaries gathered on Jan. 18 at CF in Lecanto for a Leadership Summit.

The Fourth Annual Community Leadership Summit was held on Jan. 18 at the College of Central Florida, Citrus Campus in Lecanto.

Commissioner and Chairman Jeff Kinnard presided over the collaborative event that brought together the County Commission, Citrus County School Board, City of Crystal River Council and City of Inverness Council.
