Marion Senior Services celebrates 50 years of service in Marion County

OCALA, Fla. (09/07/2023) — Marion Senior Services (MSS) is proud to announce that they have been providing supportive care services to elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged residents of Marion County, Florida for 50 years.

For 50 years, Marion Senior Services, with the support of the community, has honored our elders by providing resources to maintain their independence. Their team of dedicated professionals is like family, creating opportunities for their clients to find new relationships and healthier habits to manage daily living activities.

Marion Senior Services’ history is rich and full of memories – laughs, cries, hard decisions, moments of celebrations, and happy dances. Starting with $100 to provide 13 meals, they are now an agency managing a $7.5 million budget with an array of services to empower older adults to live active, healthier lives.

Marion Senior Services serves as the “lead agency’ and service provider for State and Federally-funded contracts to provide services to the elderly and disabled through specific “contracts” for service with the regional Area Agency on Aging, Elder Options. MSS is also the designated Community Transportation Coordinator providing public paratransit service to elderly, disabled, and low-income individuals throughout Marion County, through contracts with the Commission for Transportation Disadvantaged, Florida Department of Transportation, and Sun Tran.
