Hernando teen’s shooting under investigation

On Sunday at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to North Blue Bream Terrace in Hernando in reference to an accidental shooting involving minor siblings.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 13-year-old male with a gunshot wound.
The juvenile was immediately transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center and was later transferred to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for further treatment.
The CCSO is still investigating the circumstances that led up to this tragic incident.. At this time, detectives with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes Division are investigating this incident. No other persons were injured and this is an isolated incident.
It is with the utmost degree of care and concern the CCSO continues its investigation into this unfortunate occurrence and hopes the family receives the privacy and prayers to deal with such a situation.
As new information emerges, the Sheriff’s Office will continue to update the public.
