Fort Island Gulf Beach closed – additional safety measures taken

Due to the COVID-19 virus, in an abundance of caution, Citrus County Parks and Recreation reminds everyone that Fort Island Gulf Beach remains closed until further notice.

The Fort Island Gulf Beach Boat Ramp will remain open to the public.  All restrooms are closed to the public.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office has provided an electronic sign, which is placed on Ft Island Trail, notifying the public of the beach closure, along with additional large road signs located off US19 on Ft. Island Trail.

Signage is posted, west side parking lot is barricaded.  The access road to the boat ramp and fishing pier has been divided by cones and signage to create a two-lane road, which allows traffic to continue to safely enter and exit the boat ramp and fishing pier.
