Two people were shot by a Floral City homeowner during what appears to be an attempt to break in to his camper.

The two unnamed suspects were airlifted to Ocala suffering from gunshot wounds.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies responded to a home on Sunray Lane in Floral City on Monday before 2 pm.

It appeared that the two people had been shot by someone living inside the residence, the CCSO said.

According to initial reports, the unidentified homeowner was awakened by someone entering his camper where a disturbance took place, and the homeowner shot the subject and also shot another subject who was on scene.

Apparently, the Sheriff’s Office said, the subjects were trying to break into the camper.

All parties were males, the CCSO, who also said the incident was an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

So far, investigators know that there was a disagreement between the homeowner and the people who were shot.

At this time, there is an ongoing investigation to determine if any charges will be filed, the Sheriff’s Office said.
