The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking help in identifying and locating a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Friday, Oct. 13 in Lecanto.
Citrus County Sheriff’s office deputies assisted troopers with the accident that occurred at the intersection of West Southern Street and South Fairland Terrace in Lecanto at approximately 10:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, Troopers discovered that 24-year-old Dina Towers was walking eastbound along the outer edge of West Southern Street when she was struck from behind by a vehicle described as a low-profile recreation type vehicle that was traveling westbound on West Southern Street.
After striking Towers, the vehicle then left the scene without stopping before emergency personel arrived.
FHP now says it has it has narrowed its search for a suspect vehicle in a hit on run to a large, possibly dark green ATV with a rack mounted on the rear of the vehicle.
The FHP says that the ATV has been seen numberous times traveling at night with no lights.
